“English” is not “Literacy”

Me:

the “existence” of ICT as a separate subject is redundant these days. It’s basic literacy.

Him:

That’s like saying the teaching of English is redundant because of literacy & maths, numeracy.

Me:

No, “English” isn’t literacy. We’re taught to read in early primary but we can study English to post-grad.
