Coverage, Coverage, wherefore art thou…

I wish someone could explain how I can get full bars of coverage but no data connection. That just annoys the heck out of me.

RF is not Ethernet. Cell antennas are hubs, not switches, so it’s entirely possible to have a great signal, great signal quality, and no ability to do any form of data transfer with it.

People don’t tend to realize just how shockingly low the bandwidth requirements for voice calls are, and that is what the cell industry was really designed around.

So all that tells you I you are very close to a cell tower with no GPRS/EDGE/3G hub in it, only voice and text.

I’m afraid you’re both wrong, you should have used a lifeline or a 50:50.

The correct answer is “O2 have a crap network”.
